Size Vrindavan’ı hatırlatmak istiyorum. Lakin, ben Vrindavan’ın gerçek güzelliklerini görecek saf gözlere sahip değilim, ama ne görüyorsak Krişna’nın merhametiyle görüyoruz. Ruhsal rehberimiz Prabhupada bize öncelikle duymamızı talimat verir ve görmekten çok duyma duyusu üzerinde durur. Prabhupada Krişna bilincinin görme ile değil duyma ile başladığını ve bizim otorite olan kaynaktan duyarak gördüğümüzü söyler.
Prabhupada diyor ki, “Duyma bilgi sürecidir. Bu yüzden bizim Vedalarımıza sruti denir. Bilgi kulak yoluyla edinilmelidir. Benim Guru Maharaj’ım şöyle söylerdi, “Bir sadhuyu gözlerinizle görmeye çalışmayın. Bir sadhuyu kulaklarınızla görmeye çalışın.” O kadar ruhsal olanı neden gözümüzle göremiyoruz? Bunun nedeni de Srila Prabhupada tarafından açıklandığı gibi, “…Gözlerimizin hepsi karanlıkla kaplı; göremiyoruz. Öyleyse karanlıkta nasıl görebiliriz? Ajïana-timirandhasya jïanaïjana-salakaya. Salakaya meşale anlamına gelir. Peki meşale, nedir bu meşale? Jïanaïjana, bilginin merhemiyle sürünmek, bu meşaledir. Öyleyse bilgi görmek değil duymak anlamına gelir. Gözlerle değil. Bu önerilmez. Kimse, “Ben bilgiyi görmek istiyorum,” demez; hayır, “Bilgiyi duymak istiyorum.” Bu yüzden sruti denir ve bilgi kulak, işitsel kabul yoluyla alınmalıdır. Neden gözlerle ya da diğer duyularla değil? Bunu bilmek de çok önemli. Farzedin ki uyuyorsunuz. O zaman tüm duyularınız uyuyor. Ama kulak uyumaz. Siz pratik deneyime sahipsiniz. Bir adam uyurken biri onu öldürmeye geliyorsa, siz ne dersiniz? “Bay şu şu, uyan! Uyan! Tehlike var, … var” diye haykırırsınız. O zaman o da… Aksi halde tüm duyulara sahipsiniz ama size sadece kulak yardım edecek. Gözler var, eller var, bacaklar var, herşey var – bu uzuvlarınızın hiçbiri, vücudunuzun hiçbir kısmı yardım etmeyecek. Siz tehlikedeyken sadece kulağınız size yardım edecek. Bu yüzden burada susruma deniyor: “Biz bilgiyi kulak yoluyla aldık, gözlerle değil.” Maskaralar, “Ben pratik olarak görmek istiyorum” derler. Göremezler. Bu mümkün değil. Günümüzün eksikliği duymuyor olmaları. Sözde bilimadamları, filozoflar onlar duymuyorlar. Dolayısıyla hepsi başarısız. Duymuyorlar. Ama bahsedildiği gibi yöntem burda, susruma: “Biz bilgiyi otoriteden duyarak aldık.” Bu mükemmel bilgidir. Mükemmel bilgi budur.”
Onun için bizim güzel Vrindavan dhamı tanımlamada ki yetersizliğimizden ve limitlemirimizden ötürü, lütfen Vrindavan’ı saf bir adanmışın, önceki acaryalarımızdan biri olan Narottama das Thakur’un gözlerinden görün, çünkü onun gibi ve Prabhupada gibi kişiler kendilerinden evvelki otoritelerinden duyduklarıyla önce duyarak görüp, sonrada bizim gözlerimize maddi gözükenlere rağmen gerçekten görme duyularıyla Krişna'yı görüp, O ve Onun saf adanlarıyla birlikte olabiliyorlar.
“Vrindavan aşkın ve güzel bir yer. Orası herşeyin tüm arzuları yerine getiren mihenk taşından yapıldığı ruhsal gökyüzünde. Tüm tapınaklar değerli mücevherlerle süslü. Nilüfer çiçekleriyle dolu olan Yamuna Nehri o uzak yerde. Bu nilüfer kalabalığının orta yerinde daima Radha ve Krişna’yı çevreleyen sekiz başlıca gopi olan sekiz taç yaprağıyla bir diğer büyük nilüfer çiçeği gibi görünen altından bir tekne durur. Çevresindeki taç yapraklarda iki aşkın aşık, Radha ve Krişna’nın oturduğu altından bir taht vardır. Srimati Radharani tüm gopileri yöneten Deitidir. Radharani’nin güzelliğinin ve Onun aşkın bedeninin ışıltısının eşi benzeri yoktur. Ayın sözde güzelliği Radharani’nin güzelliği karşısında yere dökülmüştür. Radha ile Krişna’nın ve Onların başlıca dostlarının topluluğunda onlar birbirlerine hitap ettikçe gülüşme ve şakalaşma seli alır gider. I would like to give you a sight of Vrindavan. However, I don’t have the pure eyes to see the real beauties of Vrindavan but whatever we see it’s what we see by Krishna’s mercy. Our spiritual guide Prabhupada instructs us first to hear and stresses on the sense of hearing more than seeing. Prabhupada says that Krishna conciousness starts with hearing not by seeing, and that we see by hearing from the authorized source.
Prabhupada says, “Hearing is the process of knowledge. Therefore our Vedas are called sruti. The knowledge has to be acquired through ear. My Guru Maharaja used to say that “Don’t try to see a sadhu by your eyes. You try to see a sadhu by ears.” Why can’t we see by our eyes what is so spiritual? It’s because as described by Srila Prabhupada, “… All of our eyes are covered with darkness; we cannot see. Then how we can see in the darkness? Ajïana-timirandhasya jïanaïjana-salakaya. Salakaya means torch. So the torch, what is that torch? Jïanaïjana, smearing with the ointment of knowledge, that is the torch. So knowledge means not to see but to hear. Therefore it is called sruti, susruma. Knowledge has to be received through the ear, not by the eyes. Not by the eyes. This is not recommended. Nobody says, “I want to see knowledge,” no: “I want to hear knowledge.” Therefore it is called sruti, and knowledge is received through the ear, aural reception. Why not with eyes and other senses? That is also very important to know. Suppose you are sleeping. Then all your senses are also sleeping. But the ear does not sleep. You have got practical experience. When a man is sleeping and somebody is coming to kill him, so what do you say? You cry, “Mr. such and such, wake up! Wake up! There is danger. There is...” Then he can... Otherwise, all the senses are there, but only the ear will help you. The eyes are there, hands are there, legs are there, everything is there—nothing of this limbs of your, part of your body, will help you. Simply your ear will help you when you are in danger. Therefore here it is said, susruma: “We have received knowledge through the ears, not with the eyes.” Those rascals says, “I want to see practically.” He cannot see. That is not possible. The modern defect is that they do not hear. The so-called scientists, philosophers, they do not hear. They simply want to see, want to touch, want to smell, want to lick up. That is not knowledge. So they are all failure. They do not hear. But the process is here, as it is said, susruma: “We have received knowledge by hearing from the authority.” That is perfect knowledge. That is perfect knowledge.”
Thus, for our incapability of and limits for describing the beautiful Vrindavan dham, please hear and see Vrindavan through the eyes of a pure devotee, one of our previous acaryas Narottama das Thakur for such persons like him and Prabhupada have heard from their authorities and thus were able to see first through hearing than by actually seeing and associating with Krishna and with his pure devotees despite of what is material to our eyes.
“Vrindavan is a transcendental, beautiful place. It’s in the spiritual sky where everthing is made of touchstone, which fulfills all desires. All the temples there are bedecked with costly jewels. In that far distant place is the River Yamuna, which is full of lotus flowers. In the midst of that throng of lotus flowers there is a golden boat, appearing like another big lotus flower with eight petals, who are eight chief gopis who always surround Radha and Krishna. In the surrounding petals is a golden throne, where the two transcendental lovers, Radha and Krishna are seated. Srimati Radharani is the governing Deity of all the gopis. There is no comparison to Radharani’s beauty and the luster of Her transcendental body. The so called beauty of the moon has fallen on the ground in the presence of Radharani’s beauty. In that assembly of Radha-Krishna and their principal associates, there is a flood of laughing and joking as they address one another. Narottama das says that the eternal pastimes of Radha and Krishna are full of transcendental pleasure.
