Hare Krishna! Bugün sizinle paylaşmak istediğim çok özel bir hediye var: Bhagavad-gita. Bence Bhagavad-gita şimdiye kadar insanlığa verilmiş en güzel hediyelerden biri. Bugün bu kitabı en değerli hediyesi, hayatlarının kurtarıcısı olarak gören milyonlar var. Bhagavad-gita evrensel anlamda Hindistan’ın ruhsal bilgeliğinin mücevheri olarak ünlüdür. Bugünde hala Hindistan’da görebileceğiniz. Kurukşetra savaş alanı denilen yerde Krişna tarafından Arjuna’ya konuşulmuştur. Arjuna’nın çağımız Kali (tartışma, kavga ve ikiyüzlülük) çağında yaşayabileceğimiz tüm kafakarışıklığı, sıkıntılar, görevlerimiz, varlığımızın nedeni, evren, Tanrı’nın ne olduğu, benlik idraki ve daha fazlasına dair sorduğu en mükemmel sorular ve Krishna’nın bu sorulara karşılık, o zamanlardan beri insanlığı aydınlatan mükemmel cevapları Bhagavad-gita’da bulanabilir. Bhagavad-gita’nın kabul edilmiş ve yetkin bir yazın olduğunun göstergesi bugün elimizdeki Bhagavad-gita As It Is’i İngilizce olarak tüm dünyaya kazandıran A.C. ...Bhagavad-gita nedir? Bhagavad-gita’nın amacı insanlığı maddi varoluşun bilgisizliğinden kurtarmaktır. Her insan bir çok çeşilde zorluk içerisinde Arjuna da Kurukşetra Savaşında savaşmakta zorluk içerisinde olduğu gibi. Arjuna Sri Krişna’ya teslim oldu ve netice olarak Bhagavad-gita konuşuldu. Sadece Arjuna değil ama her birimiz bu maddi varoluş yüzünden kaygılar içerisindeyiz. Bizim tam anlamıyla mevcudiyetimiz varolmayış atmosferi içerisinde. Gerçekte biz varolmayışla tehtit edilmek anlamına gelmiyoruz. Bizim mevcudiyetimiz ebedi. Ama öyle ya da böyle asat içerisine konduk. Asat var olmayana isnat eder.

Istırap çeken bir sürü insan arasından ne olduklarına göre konumlarını, neden bu uygunsuz konuma sokulduklarını ve bunun gibilerini gerçekten soruşturan bir kaçı var. Kişiye bu ıstırabını sorgulama durumunu hatırlatılmadıkça, ıstırap çekmek istemediğini lakin daha çok tüm ıstıraplara bir çözüm bulmak istediğini fark etmedikçe, o halde kişi mükemmel bir insan olarak düşünülmemeli. İnsanlık kişinin aklında bu çeşit bir soruşturma uyandığı zaman başlar. Brahma-sutra da bu soruşturmaya Brahma jihnasa denir. İnsan Mutlağın doğasını soruşturmadıkça her eylemi bir başarısızlık olarak düşünülmeli. Bu nedenle neden acı çektiğini ya da nereden geldiğini ve ölümden sonra nereye gideceklerini soruşturmaya başlayanlar, Bhagavad-gita’yı anlamaya uygun öğrencilerdir. …

Hare Krishna! Today there is a very precious gift that I want to share with you: Bhagavad-gita. I think Bhagavad-gita is one of the best presents ever given to humanity. Today there are millions who consider this book as the most precious gift of their life and the savior of their life. Bhagavad-gita is universally renowned as the jewel of India’s spiritual wisdom. It was spoken by Krishna to Arjuna on the battlefield of Kurukşetra which you can stil see in India. Arjuna’s perfect questions about all the confusion, anxieties, our duties, the cause of our existence, the universe, what God is, self-realization and more, that we may experience in this age of Kali (the age of fight, quarrel and hypocrisy) and Krishna’s perfect answers to those questions, that have been enlightening the mankind since then can be found in the Bhagavad-gita. The indicator of Bhagava-gita’s being an approved and authorized literature today is A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada’s being an authorized acarya who has brought the Bhagavad-gita As It Is in, that we are holding in our hands today in english, to the whole world and his being a Vedic scholar and a great devotee. Furthermore it’s the reason why Bhagavad-gita As It Is has changed the lives of million’s in the direction of self-realization. Moreover, when the prasing words of the present scholar’s are added, I can just tell you for now to read Bhagavad-gita from A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, both who translated and commented the book strictly sticking to the original teachings and who is the Founder Acarya of International Society of Krishna Consiousness. I hope the small excerpt from the introduction part of the book will tell you much better.

…Just what is the Bhagavad-gita? The purpose of Bhagavad-gita is to deliver mankind from the nescience of material existence. Every man is in difficulty in so many ways, as Arjuna also was in difficulty in having to fight the Battle of Kuruksetra. Arjuna surrendered unto Çri Krsna, and consequently this Bhagavad-gita was spoken. Not only Arjuna, but every one of us is full of anxieties because of this material existence. Our very existence is in the atmosphere of nonexistence. Actually we are not meant to be threatened by nonexistence. Our existence is eternal. But somehow or other we are put into asat. Asat refers to that which does not exist.

Out of so many human beings who are suffering, there are a few who are actually inquiring about their position, as to what they are, why they are put into this awkward position and so on. Unless one is awakened to this position of questioning his suffering, unless he realizes that he doesn’t want suffering but rather wants to make a solution to all suffering, then one is not to be considered a perfect human being. Humanity begins when this sort of inquiry is awakened in one’s mind. In the Brahma-sütra this inquiry is called brahma jijïasa. Athato brahma jijïasa. Every activity of the human being is to be considered a failure unless he inquires about the nature of the Absolute. Therefore those who begin to question why they are suffering or where they came from and where they shall go after death are proper students for understanding Bhagavad-gita. …
